A recent report published by The Mail claims that the most in-depth survey conducted on men and women in the UK shows that men want casual sex more than women.
Based on the high number of female members we have on site here…that it is difficult to believe.
Where the survey offers more believable insight is in the divide over who has the more sexual regret when they’re older.
Men wish they’d been more adventurous
It’s not really a surprise to know that the majority of men who took part in this survey revealed that they regretted not having more sexual partners before they settled into a serious committed relationship. On the other side of the coin women regret sleeping with the wrong partner.
Now here’s the fascinating bit; according to the survey men worry about not moving fast enough to get a woman into bed, whilst women worry about getting into bed too fast. . . . . .
. . . this explains a lot about why there is still so much game playing between men and women.
Women wish they’d slow down
The point we disagree about with the survey is in women not wanting casual sex as much as men. What we do agree with is that women tend to be more selective about choosing the partner they want to engage in casual sex with. Whilst most men (me included) are willing to jump into bed with most women at the drop of a hat – hey we’re horny! – women tend to spend a bit more time studying a man to see if he fulfils not just a physical desire, but an emotional one as well.
Now that’s not to say women don’t want sex as much as men – in fact they want it a whole lot more a lot of the time – but they do want the sex to be of a higher quality then a lot of men seem to care about.
Gender divide?
If there is one it lies in evolutionary attitudes according to the researchers who conducted the survey. The consequences of women having casual sex up to the mid 20th Century were so much of a higher risk to their lives and lifestyle then they are now. Despite contraception and health care advances, those evolutionary attitudes have unwittingly shaped emotional reactions to sexual liaisons.
